Now that we're in the dog days of winter, I'm completely stuck in a fashion rut. I'm sooooo over all my bulky sweaters and salt-stained boots and pilling tights and am seriously craving some warm sunshine. And with this weird February weather happening (50 degrees one day, and 30 the next, wtf!), getting dressed in the morning is starting to be a challenge.
When these winter blues hit, one of my go-to pieces is a classic striped shirt--sure, it's a a little preppy, but a little gold shoulder sequin action helps give this one some pizzaz. I purchased this top so long ago at NY & Company that I don't even remember how much it was (#pricefail), but considering I was probably in college and had very limited funds, I'm pretty confident it was a budget find. What's really amazing about this top, however, is the fact that I've had it since college, I've washed it a million and one times AND it still looks/fits great. Miracles happen, people.
I paired the top with my Old Navy overall dress (just $10 on sale and last worn here!) on a recent weekend outing to the UWS, and my fave pair of black oxfords from Forever 21 (scored for $18 and worn a ton earlier this fall). Adding in a pair of sunnies c/o WowVintage, the look (mostly!) came out to $28, minus the mystery-priced striped top.
