Who doesn't love a classic black-and-white striped top? I've had this one from NY&Co in my closet FOREVER (and so have no idea what I paid for it), and it's as crisp and perfect as the day the bought it, making it one of my fave go-to basics.
It's still that awkward time of spring where the shady side of the street feels like 30 degrees, and the sunny side feels like 70, which makes it tough to dress. So I did my best to stay simultaneously cool AND warm with some strategic layering, opting to wear the striped top (cost unknown) with a black sweater ($0, from a friend's clothing swap) tied around the waist JUST IN CASE.
Since I was headed out for a waterside stroll in LIC, I also added my vintage camel coat ($20, from the Salvation Army Coat Sale) to keep those river breezes at bay, and then kept things casual with a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans ($7, from Unique Thrift Store). I finished off the look with my Dorothy Perkins ankle boots ($45), a pair of $6 street vendor sunnies, and a gifted white bag, bringing the head-to-toe outfit to around $78.
