I haven't been on an actual beach vacay in ages, but something about the late summer heat has been giving me that tropical getaway itch. Naturally, an actual trip is totally out of the question, but that doesn't mean I can't dress like a beach bum while stuck on the island of Manhattan, right??
On Saturday, I pulled out this adorable tropical-inspired Zara skirt ($3) and a silver necklace ($4), both of which I scored at my friend's recent closet clear-out sale. I wore it for a morning meet-up with Sunita V., and we grabbed a quick + cheap breakfast at Croissanteria in the East Village before stumbling across a cute community garden. Since it was so early, we had the entire garden (and a swing bench!) to ourselves, making it a perfect oasis for a mini photoshoot.
I paired the skirt with a white ruffled tank I found at Underground Thrift's Stuff A Sack sale for roughly $1.50 and a Stella & Dot tote, from my Other Woman Swap party last month. Lastly, I glammed up the beachy look a bit with a pair of nude heels, which were just $5 from Cauz for Pawz. With my $5 pair of street vendor sunnies, the whole look came out to under $19.
