UES Adventures

NYC's Upper East Side is usually associated with fancy museums, "old money" and Gossip Girl-wannabes, but there's plenty more to the neighborhood, especially when you consider all the priced-out Brooklynites apparently flocking to the area. So when I'm in the mood for a hip, downtown brunch, but want to skip all the hip, downtown crowds and hour-plus wait times, my fave place to go is the UES.

On Saturday, I met some friends for brunch at The Penrose, a cute, UES bar and restaurant that would fit right in on any SoHo side street. Along with some hangover-curing carrot and ginger juice, I ordered an amazing oyster, bacon, cheese and egg sandwich, and the spot has officially ousted Freeman's as my latest brunch obsession.  (Still <3 you Freeman's!)

After brunch, we roamed the neighborhood, soaking up some sunshine and stopping by Alice's Tea Cup Chapter III for some scones. I wore a blue dress, which was a birthday gift from a friend, and paired it with a white blazer ($7.50, Forever 21), last worn here. I added my thrifted black ankle boots ($6, Housing Works), a black belt ($6, NY&Co) and a pair of cat-eye sunglasses, c/o WowVintage, as well as some gifted bracelets. Head to toe, the whole UES look came out to around $20.
