Shop Talk: Rena Reborn
During my weekend visit to the East Village, I swung by Rena Reborn, one of my favorite little secondhand boutiques in the city. The shop offers a great balance between classic pieces, cute vintage and designer finds, and while some of the pricing can get a bit high ($75-$100+), there are definitely still deals to be found in the $10-$30 range. Plus, Rena Reborn offers plenty of rotating sales--all jewelry was 20% off during our visit!--and there's always a $5 rack and occasionally a $1 bin to rummage through. (To keep abreast of Rena Reborn's sales, just follow them on Facebook or Instagram!)
My favorite stuff in the store is typically the jewelry selection, which is always super eclectic and reasonably priced. Because you can usually find something to fit all tastes (and because a necklace looks great on everyone!), the baubles make great gifts, and I've definitely gifted my share of jewelry from the store before. Also, Rena Reborn stocks items from local designers, and while some of it is a bit out of my personal price range, it's definitely fun to check out the cool stuff that's handmade and one-of-a-kind.
Another reason I love Rena Reborn is the shop's laid-back and unpretentious vibe, which is a welcome departure from some of the more stuffy, overpriced vintage/secondhand boutiques in the area. Not only is the store bright, well-organized and--despite the broad array of merchandise--not too cluttered, but the staff here is also always friendly and helpful. As an added bonus, Rena Reborn is super dog-friendly, and will even gift dog treats to your well-behaved pooch on occasion. I definitely recommend swinging by if you're ever in the East Village, and afterwards, you can head down the block for a sweet treat at the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop--another one of my local faves. Happy hunting!
