I'm a huge fan of re-wearing things. I believe that if you have something you love, you should wear it often, with as many things as you can, until you either get sick of it (and donate it!) or it falls apart. But of course, finding pieces that are versatile enough to wear in different ways and across different seasons is easier said than done. How many times have you splurged on a trendy, tropical-print crop top or like item, only to realize you can wear for just a handful of weekends July through August? I definitely have, ugh. But over the past year, I've started making a conscious effort to get rid of the things I rarely wear, and bring in more practical and versatile pieces that I know I'll get more mileage out of.
When I first purchased this Aztec-print vest from Forever21 on clearance for $11.99 a while ago, I kinda thought it'd be one of those trendy, one-off items I'd soon forget about. Instead, this vest has become one of my favorite items to layer with, and I've worn it season after season. (I wore the vest in the dead of winter here, and then again in this late summer/early fall look).
I pulled it out of the closet again last week, opting to pair it with some tights and thrifted denim cutoffs from Goodwill ($0.85, also worn here) and an old cream button-up (cost unknown). I finished off the look with my Dorothy Perkins boots ($67) and a borrowed vintage hat from blogger buddy Sunita V., who scored it for just $1 at a Housing Works Buy the Bag sale. (I know. I'm mad about it too!!) Head to toe, the whole ensemble came out to under $81.
