I've been suffering from a case of the closet blues lately, feeling pretty much over everything I own. But because of this year's Salvation Army Coat Sale and an upcoming clothing swap this weekend, I've decided to hold off on purchasing anything, since I know I'll soon be swimming in tons of new-to-me stuff. Instead, I decided to give my closet a little fall pick-me-up earlier this week by inviting blogger buddy Sunita V. to come over and help me create new looks using pieces I already own. Sometimes all your closet really needs is a second pair of eyes.
Sunita helped me put together this Gossip Girl-inspired ensemble, featuring a gorgeous vintage Bergdorf Goodman skirt I scored at Cauz for Pawz for just $12 a few months ago. The pleats combined with the gold hardware on this piece are totally the best.
She paired the skirt with a cream button-up ($7, TJMaxx) and topped it off with my vintage "Universitas Indonesia" sweatshirt ($2, also from Cauz for Pawz), and then finished the whole thing off with a BaubleBar necklace (gifted) and a pair of borrowed sunnies. With my gifted black clutch and a pair of taupe heels ($1, from Cure Thrift's dollar sale, and also worn here!), the head-to-toe look came out to $22.
Also, as a reminder for all you NYC-area thrifters, the first 2014 Salvation Army Coat Sale event is tomorrow, October 4--be sure to get there bright and early! Not sure what it's all about? You can check out my recap of last year's event here. xoxo!
