In today's edition of "2014 Salvation Army Coat Sale Finds," (see previous editions here and here!) I bring you this adorable collar-less vintage coat, scored for just $20. The coat doesn't have tags, so I have no clue where it's from or when it was made, but it's in great condition, with textured outer fabric and a satin red lining. (I've since spotted similar vintage-style imitations at Zara, H&M and Forever 21, including this one, this one and this one.)
I wore the coat as part of a work outfit earlier this week, pairing it with a J.Crew boucle skirt I purchased from Unique Thrift Store in Brooklyn for just $4. I added an old purple sweater (cost unknown) I've held on to since college, along with a pair of black tights ($8, Old Navy) and my black ankle boots ($6.50, Housing Works Tribeca). With my gold necklace ($10, street vendor) and black sunnies ($1.50, purchased on sale from Forever 21), the whole look came out to $50.
Also, if you missed October's coat sale, just a heads up that the next one is this weekend, on Saturday, November 1 at Salvation Army's Hell's Kitchen outpost (536th W. 46th St.). You can find some tips on how to shop the sale here. Happy hunting!
