Red Brick

Happy MLK Day! No work today, so I'm curled up on the couch, sipping coffee, catching up on emails and having the kind of leisurely late morning that I fantasize about on most Mondays. I spent yesterday out in Sunset Park, Brooklyn with Sunita V, where we did some preliminary planning for next month's EAT DRINK THRIFT event at the Housing Works warehouse and successfully resisted the urge to bring home bags of stuff. Afterwards, I headed home to meet up with my family, and we grabbed dinner at Hill Country Chicken in Brooklyn, where we chowed on some amazing southern-style fried chicken. Yum!

Since I was running all over town and it was freezing out, I went for comfy layers, starting off with a cozy cream sweater scored at Goodwill for $8 (last worn here!). I paired it with my vintage, tweed boyfriend blazer ($0.55, Housing Works Buy The Bag), a $20 multi-patterned scarf from Zara (on sale here), and a pair of stretchy black pants ($20).

I finished off the look with my black ankle boots ($17.50, Forever 21) and a cognac-colored leather purse, found at Goodwill Orlando for $0.85. Head to toe, the whole outfit came out to around $67.

And P.S., if you're in the NYC area and in a thrifting mood, there are a couple of MLK weekend sales going on. Unique Thrift Store is having yet another 50% off sale, and Goodwill New York/New Jersey is offering 35% off everything. Happy hunting!
