Burlap And Brownstones

Remember the potato sack challenge from Season 7 of Project Runway? Well, my fond memories of that episode inspired me to scoop up this vintage, burlap crop top ($8) at AuH2O last month. But instead of trying to manipulate it into something less sack-like, I embraced the rustic look of the burlap fabric, and paired it with some high-waisted denim for a recent weekend outing in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.

Although the shorts (cost unknown) look brand new, these babies are actually leftover from my college days, and herald back to a time when Forever 21 actually stocked some pretty high-quality denim. For shoes, I opted for a pair of suede Michael Kors wedges, purchased a few years ago at Buffalo Exchange for just $30, and finished off the look with a few gold necklaces (larger one was $0.50 at Goodwill, smaller one $2.99 from a small shop in Jackson Heights, Queens). The total outfit--minus the cost of the shorts--came out to just under $42.
