Last Thursday, I headed to Roseland Ballroom with my cousin to hit up AbsolutX, an Absolut vodka-fueled masquerade party featuring cocktails, modern art and music from Questlove and Santigold. We arrived early to grab a good spot in the insanely long line, and I snapped a few photos of my party outfit while we waited.
Inspired by my glitter-covered mask, I wore a fun, sparkly purple top ($6.50) scored at ClosetDash, and paired it with a zippered mini skirt ($4) found at Unique Thrift Store's 50% off sale. I pulled some super-old, black and silver strappy heels (cost unknown) out of retirement, and finished off the look with some purple nail polish and a beaded black and white necklace ($4) from Buffalo Exchange's Chelsea outpost. My total outfit came out to just $14.50, not including shoes.
After waiting two hours--during which time I took a break at the nearby Steak'n'Shake and chowed down on a Frisco Melt--we were finally ushered into Roseland, which had been transformed into a blue-tinted cavern filled with hanging clouds and other art pieces created by Sanford Biggers. We helped ourselves to the open bar and a trio of mixologist-created cocktails, danced to Questlove's amazing DJ set (which featured Macklemore's "Thrift Shop" of course!) and topped off the night with a live performance from Brooklyn native Santigold. All in all, an Absolut-ly entertaining evening.
