I found this vintage-style Anne Klein skirt at the Goodwill on 23rd Street for just $4.50 earlier this week, and was really drawn to its soft wool fabric and perfect pleating. During the same shopping trip, I also happened to fall in love with a funky textured top ($9.99), and while I balked a little at the price, I just couldn't bring myself to put it back on the rack. Despite its carpet-like appearance and lack of any kind of brand tag, I was crazy about its rich mix of colors and slightly puffed sleeves.
Imagine my excitement when I got home and--with the help of a belt ($6, from NY&Co.) and some shoes ($20, Payless)--realized I could pair both together for a cute, work-appropriate outfit that could still make the transition to after-work activities. To test my theory, I wore it all day yesterday, going straight from work to a friend's improv show at UCB East, then to dinner and drinks at Macondo, where I took these pics. The outfit cost came to just $20.49, and head-to-toe totaled $40.49.
