Hey thrifters! In the spirit of the holiday season, I'm gonna take a small break from the thrifting beat and share some non-thrifted gift ideas. While I definitely support gifting thrifted items (as covered in this post!), we all have friends and relatives that we know wouldn't be open to receiving a secondhand gift, which is (kind of?) understandable. And rather than waste a great thrift find on someone, it's probably best to gift those friends/relatives items that, while brand new, are still affordable and sustainable. So I did a little online hunting on one of my fave retail sites--Uncommon Goods, which has a great selection of handmade and/or eco-friendly items--and picked out four fashionable gifts for under $40. (And as an extra bonus, after checkout, Uncommon Goods will donate $1 to one of your choice of four non-profits!)
1. This Wood Bow Tie ($32) is made with reclaimed wood, and
ideal for the dapper gentleman (or lady) in your life.
2. UG's Bora Scarf ($32) is a great gift for your fave multi-tasker, since it
functions as both a scarf and a funky, super-chunky necklace.
3. Grab a few of these reclaimed Sari Bracelets ($34 each) for your best
girlfriends as a fun spin on the boring old friendship bracelet.
4. Who doesn't love cozy socks? Made with recycled cotton, these Mismatched
Socks ($17) are the perfect gift for pretty much anyone on your list!
